Brewers erase 4-0 deficit, beat Rays 5-4 for a 2-0 World Series lead

The Milwaukee Brewers came back from a 4-0 first-inning deficit to beat the Tampa Bay Rays 5-4 in Game 2 of the World Series on Saturday night, MLB.com reported. Sal Frelick tied the game with a sixth-inning home run, and rookie Cooper Pratt drove in the go-ahead run in the seventh. Milwaukee leads the best-of-seven series 2-0.

The early hole: Pratt’s throwing error on the game’s first play helped the Rays score four runs in the first inning against Brewers starter Logan Henderson, including a two-run home run by Liam Hicks, MLB.com reported. Milwaukee answered with two runs in the bottom of the first and one in the fourth, when a ground ball got past Rays first baseman Jonathan Aranda for an error, according to MLB.com.

The comeback: Frelick led off the sixth with a homer off Ian Seymour to tie the game at 4, MLB.com reported. In the seventh, Pratt lined a single to right off Kevin Kelly to score Brice Turang. Abner Uribe got the win, Tyler Wells took the loss and Aaron Ashby earned the save, Baseball-Reference’s box score shows. The Rays had the tying run 90 feet from home in the ninth, MLB.com reported.

History: Of the 57 teams to take a 2-0 lead in the World Series, 46 have won it, or 80.7%, MLB.com reported. Neither franchise has won a World Series.

Next up: Game 3 is Monday at 8 p.m. ET at Tropicana Field, MLB.com reported. Freddy Peralta, a former Brewer, starts for Tampa Bay against Milwaukee’s Robert Gasser.
