Milwaukee throws a parade Friday for the Brewers’ first World Series title
The Milwaukee Brewers will celebrate the first World Series championship in franchise history with a parade through downtown Milwaukee on Friday at 10 a.m. CT, followed by a rally at Henry Maier Festival Park, MLB.com reported. The parade and the festival grounds are free. Milwaukee Public Schools closed all schools and district offices for the day.
The route: The parade starts at N. Vel R. Phillips Avenue and W. Wisconsin Avenue, runs east on Wisconsin, north on Jefferson, east on Mason, south on Jackson and east on Chicago Street to Henry Maier Festival Park, FOX6 Milwaukee reported. Road closures along the route begin at 7 a.m.
The rally: Gates at Henry Maier Festival Park open at 8 a.m. and festivities run until 3 p.m., the Brewers said. Tickets for the amphitheater program are sold out, but video screens will show it across the grounds. The first 50,000 fans will get a rally towel, Visit Milwaukee said.
Getting there: Parking at American Family Field is free, and shuttles to the rally cost $5 per person, with proceeds going to the Brewers Community Foundation, FOX6 reported. The Milwaukee County Transit System is adding service on several routes.
Watching from home: The parade will air on MLB Network, MLB.TV and Brewers.TV and stream free on Brewers.com, MLB.com reported. The Brewers beat the Tampa Bay Rays 4-1 in Game 5 on Wednesday to win the series four games to one.
