My Chemical Romance scores first No. 1 album with ‘The Black Parade,’ 20 years later

My Chemical Romance’s “The Black Parade” jumped from No. 139 to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 after a 20th anniversary reissue, giving the band its first No. 1 album, Billboard reported.

The numbers: The album earned 78,000 equivalent album units in the week ending Oct. 29, including 68,000 in pure album sales, according to Luminate data reported by Billboard. Vinyl accounted for 42,000 of those sales.

A record wait: Billboard said the 20-year wait is the longest ever for an album to reach No. 1. The album first peaked at No. 2 in 2006. Variety and Rolling Stone also reported the band’s first No. 1.

Why now: Billboard said the reissue came in more than 20 physical versions, all counted together, and the band has been touring the album since July 2025.
