Stock futures mixed as Apple slides and voters head to the polls
U.S. stock futures were mixed early Tuesday as Apple fell after its earnings and investors waited for midterm results, Reuters and Yahoo Finance reported. Oil prices rose after U.S. strikes on Iran’s Qeshm Island.
The numbers: At 5:06 a.m. ET, Dow futures were down 219 points, or 0.42%, S&P 500 futures were up 0.02% and Nasdaq 100 futures were up 0.46%, Reuters reported.
Apple: Apple fell 4.5% in premarket trading after warning that rising memory-chip costs would pressure its holiday-quarter gross margin, Reuters reported. Palantir also fell despite topping expectations.
Tech correction: The Nasdaq-100 closed Monday more than 10% below its all-time closing high, which Reuters said confirms a correction amid worries about Big Tech’s AI spending.
Still ahead: AMD reports after the closing bell, Yahoo Finance reported. Pfizer and Marathon Petroleum were set to report before the open. This is not investment advice.
