Nasdaq futures rise as SpaceX and Supermicro results lift AI stocks; Netflix falls premarket
U.S. stock futures rose early Wednesday, led by the Nasdaq-100, after results from SpaceX and a raised outlook from Super Micro Computer renewed interest in AI-linked stocks, Yahoo Finance reported. These are premarket moves; the regular session opens at 9:30 a.m. ET, and Tesla and Meta report after the close.
Futures: Nasdaq-100 futures were up 0.9%, S&P 500 futures gained 0.3% and Dow futures were little changed, Yahoo Finance reported in an update at 6:00 a.m. ET. Brent crude futures rose to $109 a barrel and West Texas Intermediate traded near $98.
Movers: SpaceX shares rose 6% in post-market trading after the company posted better-than-expected quarterly results driven by AI infrastructure and cloud services, Yahoo Finance reported. Super Micro Computer shares soared 16% in early premarket trading after it raised its preliminary fiscal first-quarter revenue guidance to $18.5 billion to $19.5 billion, according to a second Yahoo Finance report. Netflix fell after its fourth-quarter revenue forecast missed estimates.
Tesla and SpaceX: Elon Musk said both SpaceX and Tesla have formed special committees to discuss the idea of a merger, Yahoo Finance reported. No deal has been announced.
Tuesday’s close: The Dow rose 1.02%, helped by results from 3M and Northrop Grumman, the S&P 500 gained 0.28% and the Nasdaq Composite slipped 0.02%, TipRanks reported.
Oil: Brent crossed $110 a barrel in early trading as Iran’s Revolutionary Guards reportedly blocked tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, according to Yahoo Finance. Prices can move quickly before the open.
